We-Blocker Uninstallation Guidelines

Below are the basic instructions for removing We-Blocker, if you know what your master password is. If you don't know the password, scroll down for the advanced instructions.

1. run 'chkdsk'

(Go to your start menu
Click on it and you should see ‘run’ in the lower right side on the right half of all the icons
Type ‘chkdsk’ into the box beside ‘run’
This checks your disk and cleans up loose ends.)

2. run 'weuninstall' on the command line

(Go to your start menu
Click on it and you should see ‘run’ in the lower right side on the right half of all the icons
Type ‘weuninstall’ into the box beside ‘run’
This should begin the software uninstall procedure..)

3. restart computer

4 Click on internet explorer

(click on 'tools' in upper right hand corner, click on Internet Options, Click on 'Connections' tab at top
of Internet Options box --between 'Content' and 'Programs', click on 'LAN settings', all boxes should be unchecked under
LAN Settings after we-blocker un-install)

5. note that you may want to run 'chkdsk' and 'weuninstall' again just to confirm that everything has been removed successfully.

Advanced Instructions: (do not need your password for these)
----------------------

If you didn’t change the default security question&answer, you can try the following:
•    Double-click on the We-Blocker icon (power symbol) at the bottom right of the screen
•    A window will pop up asking for the password
•    Since you don’t know it, click on the button to answer the security question
•    Enter BOOTS as the security question answer

If that doesn’t work, one of these two methods should work:
First method:
•    We-Blocker runs basically off of two programs that stay in memory & block websites. Find SYSWB6 and WINKB6 and rename them to prevent them from loading into memory.
•    After renaming SYSWB6.EXE to something else, you could also try right-clicking on it & choosing Windows 95 as the compatibility mode for the program to run in.
•    If you don’t normally need a proxy server to use the Internet, you should, after restarting, go into Internet Options under Control Panel. Then, on the LAN Settings tab make sure “Use a proxy server for your LAN” is unchecked.

Second method:
•    Choose Run on the Start menu.
•    Type “msconfig” in the Run dialog box.
•    Uncheck SYSWB6 & restart the computer. This will prevent We-Blocker from loading when your computer starts up.
