Peer Resources

LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

Peer counselors are found in high schools across the country. In New Jersey, 200 high school students formed REACH America. In Boston, Copley High School and Boston’s Cathedral High School students are peer leaders. A drug intervention program in Tennessee and Georgia known as Project 714 is responsible for declining drug and alcohol use both on and off campuses of area schools. Most schools involved in Project 714 have their own "Triple S"—Students Staying Straight—bulletin boards. These make it possible for students in and out of the club to monitor each other’s activities, creating positive peer pressure.
