ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
- Many good articles can be found on athletics in over-the-counter magazines and newspapers. Articles from these sources keep the youth worker informed on current information to converse well with those in the group who like competitive sports.
- For those less competitively inclined, consider the New Games Book and the More New Games Book (1981), as well as Non-Competitive Games for People of All Ages (1986). These activities meet the demands for reduced competition, but foster identification.
- Do not forget that a prime source of athletic stimulation is attending the ‘big’ games—professional, collegiate, or high school. Videotaping an event and then discussing the good and bad aspects of the event may foster discussion encouraging participation.
