Mentors are paired with one of our young scholars of the same gender for one academic year, connecting with the child 3-4 times a month to work on projects that will develop the interests of the young scholar. Mentors and young scholars will need to attend 6 Saturday group sessions during the year.

Requirements:
Volunteer mentors must complete an application, submit references, undergo a criminal background investigation, and be interviewed by our staff.

Most of our children come from Upper Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn. Mentors should be prepared to meet their Young Scholar Proteges in these neighborhoods.
