ICDI is a non-denominational, non-governmental, and non-profit faith-based organization presently working in the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo. ICDI has 501c3 status in the USA as well as tax-exempt NGO status in the Central African Republic.
Vision of ICDI: To eradicate the trend of persistent poverty in central Africa through collaborative effort at the village community level by equipping and empowering the people of the community with sustainable, transformational solutions to the problems they face.
Mission of Program Director:
• Provides decisive leadership of and training for central African program managers and key personnel through communication of strategic objective and tactical outcomes and building accountability.
• Participates in the development of strategic work-plans with clear objectives and achievement benchmarks, long-term and short-term priorities, implementation plans, financial projections and tools for evaluation
• Links best‐known, current, global thinking to in-country practices
• Ensures the alignment of the African programs with Executive Team-approved program framework and the use of established stringent monitoring and evaluation systems, and oversight of the development of monitoring systems for new programs
• Travels to Africa as needed
Leadership
• Connects ICDI vision and mission with on‐time project deliverables through effective in-country, national, team-building efforts
• Works closely with national Administration Teams to provide direction, accountability, and oversight to Program Managers
• Provides decisive leadership with African Program Managers in each country
• Creates clear communication of mission internally and externally
• Directs to the highest standards for nonprofit management practices and ethics
• Liaises with national local authorities, donors, NGOs, and other operational partners in RCA via attendance at meetings, consultations and other forums
• Monitors trends, legislation and regulations that are relevant to the program’s mission and makes program and advocacy recommendations to the COO
• Provides monthly progress updates to the COO (e.g., goal completion progress, issues encountered coupled with recommended solutions, etc)
Staff Empowerment
• Exercises practical management style, centering on team development
• Facilitates the conceptual, managerial, organizational and technical capacities of the national staff to effectively contribute to the achievements of the program objectives within ICDI
• Coaches national Program Managers to prepare logistics and support plans, deployment timelines that satisfy budget requirements for current and planned programs.
• Develops training modules to enhance national staff effectiveness
• Teaches nonprofit management and fundraising principles to national program managers to enhance empowerment
Finances
• Streamlines program operations and processes to function at the highest possible efficiency within reasonable budget, personnel, and timeline parameters
• Monitors the program’s financial health and makes recommendations to the COO and the Executive Team
• Ensures that all documentation is complete, timely and accurate in compliance with donor policies, expectations and timeline requirements
• Works with the program managers, the African and USA finance departments to track monthly project expenditures against program budget
• Recommends grant and budget revisions in consultation with the national program managers
Operations
• Develops and monitors progress reporting on achieving short- and medium-term objectives
• Reviews programs through periodic field visits and ensures that program implementation strategies are compatible with overall program goals and objectives.
• Keeps program-specific teams on task through to closure on projects, tasks, and program developments
• Available to participate in program assessments are conducted in accordance with donor specific requirements, information is analyzed and shared with all stakeholders; and appropriate, timely actions are effected by program technical staff in collaboration with clients, and partners
• Develops tools for the measurement of program impact and involvement of client groups in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
• Encourages constructive and productive communication between program and operations staff to guarantee timely service
• Monitors daily operations through national Administration Team with a primary focus on delivering on the core ICDI model for integrated community development.
Reporting Relationships:
• Reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Qualifications:
• Experience or educational training in HIV-AIDS or related medical interventions
• Culturally sensitive and able to supervise and train in-country, national staff
• Attention to detail and able to manage multiple tasks
• Competence in information technology, especially communications
• Written and spoken fluency in French and English
• Understanding and personal alignment with faith-based nature of ICDI
Compensation
• None, this is a volunteer position
• Cell phone and internet stipend will be provided (US$ 100.00 monthly)
• All ICDI related expenses will be paid
