Externship Title: Volunteer Immigration Legal Externship
Volunteer Position Location: 620 S. Elm Street, Suite 315, Greensboro, NC
Commitment: Must be able to commit to two credit hours (depending on school requirements) or 8 hours a week. Both Full-time and Part-time positions are available.
Start Date: January 2012
Job Description:
The Extern will support the Non-profit’s existing programmatic work on Citizenship (N-400, N-648, and N-600), the immigration consequences of criminal convictions, and petitions related to immigrant crime victims.
Extern will Coordinate all aspects of a client’s case, including client communication, relevant research, translation, drafting personal statements, preparing immigration forms, writing memos, and advocacy with law enforcement and other agencies. Attending clients’ interviews with USCIS officers for immigration benefits, as an interpreter.
Experience: Externs should be professional, patient, and have a demonstrated commitment to Immigrants’ Rights. Experience working in immigration law is helpful.
Requirements:
• Adults Ages (20+)
• Consent to and pass a background screening
• Second Language preferred
