Description

We are looking for volunteer groups to prepare and serve meals in homeless shelters in the Washington metropolitan area. groups will have the opportunity to interact with the residents, offering them words of encouragement while listening to their stories. This is a rewarding opportunity for people who think of homeless persons as the worst of the worst to see that anyone can be homeless.

Requirements:
1. Groups must make a one year commitment to serve at an assigned shelter for one day on a bi-monthly basis.

2. Groups must have the resources to purchace and prepare the e meals that are to be served.

3. The average shelter has between 100 and 200 residents.

4. Meals must contain at least one protien, two vegetables and a desert

5. Portions will be determined by your group. But be mindful, to a lot of residents, the dinner meal might be the only meal that is eaten all day.
6.there might be some people who don't eat pork. So If pork is your protien, you might want to consider making an alternative meat to accomidate such people.

6. Groups should provide serving gloves for all servers.

7. Shelter locations will be rotated.
