Description

TASK:

We are looking for a highly motivated volunteer to help flood affected people in Pakistan in their desperate situation. This task involves providing assistance to the organization in identifying potential donors, developing new Project Proposal (Narrative, Budget and Annexes) on Emergency Flood Programs, Responding to any queries raised by donor agency after submission of the project plan and writing concept notes. Volunteer must have the ability he can compile, write, and edit grant applications; Develop grant proposals in accordance with each grant- organizations-preferences and following their guidelines; Keep in contact with grant organizations during their review of a submitted grant application supplying them with additional supportive material if needed. A volunteer who is cooperative and can work alongside the Grant Director to manage the process of supplying and submitting progress reports to the grant organization that has funded a project or program developed by the organization.

We would need assistance over a flexible period of several months to a year or longer. Volunteer will not need to leave there homes.can work from home.We would mainly communicate through email, phone and Fax, when required. We would provide the volunteer with information necessary to perform his/her assignment. Volunteers will not submit the funding requests on behalf of our organization. NWHO will collaborate with the volunteer on the process and certificate will be awarded at the end of the assignment to all volunteers.


PROJECT LOCATION:

Pakistan- Flood affected Areas

PROJECT DESCRIPTION-OBJECTIVES:

To provide immediate relief to the flood affected people like flat rice, puffed rice, rice, cane sugar , cookies water purifying tablets etc. for their food crises

To contribute to the stabilization and well-being of populations (women and men, boys and girls) displaced by the flood response.

To help flood affected population (men, women and children)through the provision of food assistance for families, necessary nutrients for women and children and restoration and rehabiliation of water and sanitation services.

Ensure preventive and curative health care services with medicines and supplies to most flood affected people of Pakistan through 3 Mobile Health Units.

Sustained success for all members of the local Village community to improved sanitation and better hygiene and Improved health and quality of life for the local community in line with Millennium Development Goals (MDG) targets for safe water supply and sanitation (?ensure environmental sustainability?).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In August 2011, heavy monsoon rains triggered important flooding in lower parts of Sindh & northern parts of Punjab. According to initial reports, 5,300,000 people have been displaced, 1,100,000 homes devastated and 248 people have lost their lives. 72 % of the crops in Sindh have been damaged/destroyed.66% are currently living in temporary settlements. In view of the situation, assistance in terms of food, shelter, water, hygiene kits, & life saving Drugs with medical services are required.

Very good knowledge in proposal writing
A good knowledge of English is essential,

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a bachelor's degree and/or three years experience and provable track record in successful grant research and writing. Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and calmly under deadline are necessary qualities.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
The ideal candidate writes persuasive, clear, concise proposals; has experience soliciting foundations and corporations; meets deadlines and juggles multiple priorities; and maintains a professional work style. Experience managing a growing grants schedule is desired. Ideal candidates would see the position as a growth opportunity within the grants, research and campaign developmental areas.

Responsibilities:
The position reports to the NWHO and is part of a team. This person must be multi-tasked and must be able to work independently. Writes grants to secure new funds and complete grant continuations packets for existing grant funded projects. Identify and develop funding sources.

Correspondence:
1. Write grant proposals and reports to foundations and corporations as determined by the grants calendar and grant reporting requirements.


2. Develop and steward relationships with our current and prospective Grantors to meet our mutually beneficial needs.

3. Research corporations and foundations to meet new program and capital funding needs.

4. Work collaboratively with development team to coordinate corporate underwriting campaigns.

5. Collect and summarize program and budget results submit reports to NWHO on time.

6. Support Associate Director in execution of annual fund and publications, as needed.
