Vocational Skills Development for People with Disabilities
|
Description
People with disabilities in rural Cameroon are all too often viewed as cursed. This is not acceptable. Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) hopes to contribute greater understanding that all people should be treated equally and afforded the same opportunities.
In addition to involving people with disabilities in our other programs, GMM would like to open a tailoring workshop. For this project to begin, GMM is in need of the following items:
1. sewing machines
2. knitting machines
3. embroidery machine
There are already some people doing hand embroidery and earning good money, so we have every reason to believe that this will be a successful program. GMM plans to also teach small business skills to this group and is considering a micro-credit scheme to help get successful business ventures off the ground.
One of the greatest difficulties we face is not only getting the equipment, but having the necessary funds to pay for shipping these items to the GMM office.
We hope that you will share your ideas for how we can best get this program off the ground. If you have experience with micro-credit, we would love to learn from your experience.
