Internships for Christian Leaders 2011

Position Title: Summer Intern
Quantity: 20 positions available
Reports to: Internship Supervisor, Program Managers
Package: Housing, Transportation, $400 for Personal Expenses,
Stipend ($500-$1500)

Description: Each year, Bayshore Christian Ministries brings together a diverse team of exceptional college students to serve in their summer programs. This creates life-changing experiences for everyone involved. Interns navigate the joys and challenges of serving youth with significant needs. Youth make tremendous strides in education and preparation for life. Parents are grateful for the impact they see in their children’s lives. Our internships are ideal for college students seeking experience in the areas of education, social work, youth ministry and urban ministry. As an intern you will:
1. Experience training as an academic instructor
2. Grow personally and spiritually
3. Participate in a multi-cultural team experience
4. Serve with a strong, well-established organization
5. Receive intensive training in urban ministry and issues of race and culture
6. Be an inspiring role model
7. Go on team retreats as well as outings to San Francisco, Santa Cruz and much more

Job duties:
1. Teach a small group of elementary age students (3-5 students per group) in reading, writing and math
2. Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of specific students
3. Lead special interest workshops
4. Perform student home visits
5. Help students prepare performances for end of the summer celebration
6. Attend weekly meetings
7. Attend weekly Bible study and speaker sessions

Requirements

Requirements:
1. Have a strong desire to work with urban youth in an academic/teaching setting
2. Be spiritually, emotionally and socially mature
3. Work well as part of a larger team – a “team player”
4. Be prepared to be challenged on many levels
5. Have a strong desire to grow in your knowledge of God and your commitment and service to Him!
6. Actively participate in all orientation, training & debriefing activities
