Description

Reading & Math Heroes (Tues & Thurs, 6-7:30pm):

This is a one-to-one tutoring program for both math and reading. Reading happens on Tuesdays and Thursdays focus on Math. Don't worry you don't have to come up with the curriculum! We already have pre-planned curriculum that is tailored to each child. When you arrive you can get your child's lesson plan and go over it before the session begins. At 6pm the elementary students have a large group activity (the tutors can sit with their student during this time). Then about 6:10-15 the group breaks up and you have one-on-one time with your student. Tutoring ends at 7pm. After the kids go home the tutors help clean and have a short debriefing time to discuss issues or questions. The middle school program is similar but they donÂ’t have a large group session at the beginning.

This program asks that you commit to tutoring for one semester, that way you can really build a relationship with your student and help them reach their greatest potential. If you're interested in tutoring please let me know which night you prefer: Tues (Reading) or Thur (Math).

*Confidentiality Agreement (As a tutor you will have access to your students report card and some other personal information. This agreement ensures you realize and follow our confidentiality standards.)

*Outside Program Agreement (This is a document explaining our policy of interacting with the kids outside of Little Lights program time.)

*Background check (After sending in your application you will receive an email from Christianbackgroundchecks.com asking you fill out their online form. The cost is $10.00. Once you fill out the form the search results will be sent directly to myself. Your information is kept confidential. Having a background check is something we are legally required to do for all our volunteers and staff)

*TB test. All our volunteers and staff are required to get a Tuberculosis test (for the safety of our kids).

*These items will be sent to you after your application is received.
