Description
Our vision and mission
Our vision is a world where all women and children are safe from harm in the societies where they live.
Our mission is to create environments that enable fair development for vulnerable people in rural and urban settings, particularly women and children.
Our projects
AFAWI has undertaken many development projects over the years, centred around youth and womenÂ’s empowerment as well as community and human resource development. Among the projects weÂ’ve run are a malaria control project and a programme aimed at curbing the discrimination and stigmatization of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).
What we do
We believe that everyone can choose: either be part of the problem or part of the solution. This is why we work together with other organisations to champion education for all, womenÂ’s and youth empowerment and development, HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health, community and rural development and human rights.
Volunteers needed
WeÂ’re always looking for volunteers to work with us in Ghana. As a volunteer for AFAWI, youÂ’ll support development of the most vulnerable people in society. If youÂ’re looking for a life changing experience, for you and those that you help, find out more.
Urgent appeal for volunteers
We urgently need volunteers to help with our work in the Ave community in South East Ghana. WeÂ’re looking for teachers and medical assistants to start work with us on 8 September until 15 December.
Teaching
We need 24 volunteers to teach English, maths, IT or science at a primary, junior and senior school in Ave. You donÂ’t need to be a qualified teacher but training in education or experience working with young people would be an advantage.
Medical assistance
We need four volunteers with medical experience to help in the Ave-Dakpa Health Center. Qualifications in nursing or midwifery are particularly welcome.
