Description

Students will experience living and working in a residential rehabilitation setting while focusing on spiritual growth, service, study and reflection, and community. With the support of the other interns, students work 40 hours/week at one of our five facilities. Work Sites may include: our downtown Rescue Mission, Champa House (transitional house for women and children), Family Rescue Ministry, The Crossing, Client Services, Medical Clinic, or Harvest Farm - a 100-acre working farm. Students will gain experience in the following areas (depending on placement): Education, Human and Family Services, Social Work, Child Development, Administration, as well as learning and participating in the running of a farm!















Activities/Assignments:







? Attend meetings with facility residents







? Pursue personal study and prayer, and complete corresponding biblical and spiritual readings







? Meet weekly with supervisor/mentor for accountability/spiritual direction







? Help with facility operation (Champa children?s development, Lawrence Street ministry to homeless, Family Rescue Ministry, Client Services; education; administration; and other duties as assigned).







? Help coordinate volunteer projects







? Serve residents through practical assistance and friendships







? Reflect critically on issues and experience







? Study relevant ministry and rehabilitation issues







? Experience living and contributing in Servant Corps community







? Participate in group activities and duties of larger facility community







? Share in weekly community meetings and discussions, and in regular debriefing, fellowship, and recreation







? Explore simpler lifestyle

Requirements:
Servant Corps is a service learning program offered by the Denver Rescue Mission for men and women who have completed 2 years of post-secondary education, or are 21 years of age or older.

Participants pursue personal and spiritual growth and Rescue Mission Work while immersed in a residential rehabilitation community. The experience will challenge and equip each participant to become a resource of Christian love and service for residents and clients in the Mission?s rehabilitation and outreach programs, affecting residents, clients and Servant Corps participants for a lifetime.

We offer a $150/month stipend, $250/month tuition reimbursement for students, free room and board, and local transportation assistance.
