Short Term Missions Volunteer - Belize
|
Description
Participation on a service team is an experience in faith and learning. The learning comes from exposure to new people and places. Being immersed in a new culture is an excellent educational experience and PathLight service trips often include a trip to ancient Mayan ruins, the Belize Zoo, or the heart of the rainforest. But beyond learning about culture, natural wonders and history, traveling to a developing country can have a profound impact on a person's heart. Spending time with those who have few material possessions, one begins to develop a better understanding of what is truly important in life, and the sources of true happiness. Service trips can be a very spiritual experience, and many return having grown closer to God.
PathLight handles all food, lodging, and in-country transportation for service teams, which allows participants to focus on their service project and enjoy times of rest and reflection. Groups stay in PathLight's headquarters -- the Jaguar Creek Mission and Conference Center -- which is a beautiful and comfortable facility surrounded by 700 acres of rainforest. Most service work is done in one of the small villages along the Hummingbird Highway not far from the facility. Service projects are always focused on benefiting children, such as an educational workshop or a construction project for a school.
A service trip is a great opportunity for a church, youth group, or class. Those who serve together often leave as close friends; these trips are great opportunities to grow closer to God and fellow Christians.
