Description

The mentoring program of the Boston Higher Education Resource Center (HERC) is designed to empower under-represented young people by introducing them to a loving adult who will commit to a relationship in which the youth are supported through a character development and college preparedness passage. Mentoring supplies these youth with the much-needed encouragement, inspiration, and resources they need to be successful in all areas of their lives including college acceptance to college graduation. Without mentoring, many of the youth the Boston HERC serves would not go on to attend college nor maintain a healthy/safe lifestyle. The success of this relationship will be seen in the closeness shared, character development, and improved academic performance.
