Description

The BERUDA Sponsor an Orphan Project is a non-profit initiative run by the Belo Rural Development Association (BERUDA) formerly BERUDEP, seeks a volunteer for the position of the Project Supervisor.

Your tasks are:
- Responsibility for overall development, management and delivery of the Sponsor an Orphan Project according to the project manifesto and project policy
- Management of local staff and international volunteers who carry out the day-to-day activities as purchasing food from local shops and markets, taking the orphans for medical checks, arranging for their educational and clothing needs.
- Liaising between sponsors, fieldworkers, volunteers and orphans
- Management of accounts and financial systems, including preparing audits
- Management of the After School Education Programme including teaching three times per week
- Fundraising for the Orphan Project and the After School Education Programme
- Recruitment and training of local staff and volunteers (Volunteer Field Workers and replacement Project Supervisor)
- Writing Project Newsletter
- Coverage in the field when fieldworkers/volunteers are not available

Please note that there is no orphanage. The orphans live with relatives in family compounds and mud huts scattered across a rural part of North West Cameroon.

The successful applicant is ideally 25 years or older and has a commitment to helping people, be highly motivated and enthusiastic. A minimum stay of 6 months is required, although a stay of 12 months or longer is preferred. You will need to have experience or understanding of supervising both volunteers and paid local staff, along with an understanding of basic book-keeping systems. The working week is Monday to Saturday (44 hours) although you will be in control of your own timetable.
