Description

From the beginning, Adeca has fought for a clean and well-respected environment, has promoted environmental protection and has provided environmental education. As a result, the Jardin Botanico (Botanical Garden) Project emerged. The Jardin Botanico covers an area of 1.05 hectares and is located in the dry zone just west of the Carazo plateau. Adeca uses this area to teach and demonstrate new generations how to cultivate their land in an environmentally-friendly way through demonstrations and workshops. By doing this, the Jardin Botanico not only teaches ways in which to properly cultivate and harvest crops, but at the same time teaches individuals how to adequately use and dispose of land, water, waste and other components for more environmentally-friendly cultivation practices.

Because Adeca is a non-profit organization and runs purely on private donations, volunteers are always needed to help with their projects. Adeca needs volunteers to help families throughout the Carazo region. Many families throughout this region depend upon the harvest of their crops for not only economic reasons but also survival. Volunteers are needed to work with the members of Adeca to help assist with crop development, harvesting crops, reforestation projects and ensuring that plant deliveries are completed on time.
In addition, Adeca is working on many sustainable construction projects in the Carazo department. Volunteers are required to help with the construction of viviendas (small homes), water sanitation systems and improved stoves. As such, volunteers will be required to engage in physical labour.

Volunteers should host educational seminars with locals, assist in the harvesting and plating of crops, share cultivation practices.
