Description
River City Hospice is looking for volunteers to provide short-term care and companionship for hospice patients to offer relief, or respite, to the regular caregiver, usually a family member.
As a hospice volunteer you can make a difference in your community by performing various tasks for the patient or family or simply sit with the patient while the caregiver is away for a short time. You will gain a deep sense of satisfaction in being there for someone during a scary time of life. You'll feel like you are making a significant contribution to the community and learn how to deal with similar situations occurring in your own life when a beloved family member or friend is facing death.
Requirements:
* Time Commitment: One day per week (M, T, W, TH or F) for a minimum of two hours. We will work with your schedule!
* Qualifications: Pleasant and calm demeanor, patience, problem-solving ability and dependability.
* Requirements: A criminal history check, proof of TB vaccination and pre-volunteer drug screen are required.
* Benefits: A deep sense of satisfaction and personal fulfillment, making a difference in your community, learn how to deal with similar situations occurring in your own life when a beloved family member or friend is facing death. Free parking and a great team environment, you'll receive a certificate of completion and training for other positions in the future.
* Support: Training for this position will be provided. We offer a volunteer orientation twice a month at our Austin office. In addition, the Volunteer Coordinator will be available for questions and assistance.
* Age Requirement: 18+
* Dress Code: Business Casual
