KENYA Orphan School Mission Trip Project AND Debrief in the Black Forest of Germany June 5-22 2012
|
Description
Your team member fee of $4785.00 includes airfare! This is a wonderful opportunity to serve Jesus among some of the areas of greatest need. Most of the communities where we work have been ravaged by HIV/AIDS. In fact, nearly 70% of the students attending the Secondary school have been made orphans by this disease. The Mugomari and Kwirenyi Secondary Schools are already serving the four standards of high school and our team will help construct one of the eight buildings they need to hold their classes. Experience is not ever required but those who know construction, brick work, block work, plumbing, solar, concrete workers, electricians, medicine, doctors, nurses, first aid, and other related fields are encouraged to participate. We do have qualified team leaders to help you learn how to do much of the needed work. We will also partner with the local hospital for a two-day medical outreach. Everyone will be of value to this team, even if you only wish to hold babies, hang out with kids your own age, or build solid relationships with students! This team will also spend a day and night at a national game park for a safari to view wild animals in their natural habitat. Once we have completed the mission, the team will then fly to Stuttgart Germany and then be transported to Triberg, Germany which is in the heart of the Black Forest. We'll spend a goodly portion of one day in a structured debriefing session in partnership with one of the local churches in order to process what God was teaching us while we were in the field. We'll spend two nights at the chalet and one full day to allow you to journey with other team members to see the local villages such as Triberg, Schonach, or Schonwald. This is a wonderful time of reflection in one of the most scenic areas on Earth. There are lots of hiking opportunities too, Germany's tallest waterfall, and you can also visit other Black Forest towns by taking the train. It may be possible for you to arrange (in advance) to stay longer in Europe once the team has left for home.

Additional Details:
Young people under the age of 18 need to have parental or guardian approval or preferably, be accompanied by a parent. Pre-field training is required for participation on any team and will be done by correspondence. Previous short term experience is helpful but like construction experience, it is not required.
If you have medical experience and/or are able to instruct in the areas of sanitation and HIV/AIDS awareness, please apply; we need you too! We will have a medical outreach to the community if medical personnel join the team. Long-term opportunities are available to our short-termers at the Mugomari and Maasai schools for up to one year in duration.
The team will be visiting either the Nakuru Game Park or Maasai Mara Game Refuge and spending the night there following the work portion of the trip. In addition, this group will travel to Germany and debrief in Triberg, the heart of the Black Forest. We will be in Germany for two days before returning home.
