Description

YOUR TRIP FEE of $4185.00 INCLUDES RT AIRFARE! The team will perform light work projects at a secondary school in Western Kenya. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve Jesus among some of the areas of greatest need. Most of the communities where we work have been ravaged by HIV/AIDS. In fact, nearly 70% of the students attending the Mugomari Secondary School have been made orphans by this disease. The Mugomari and Kwirenyi Secondary Schools are already serving the four standards of high school and our team will be helping to complete one of the classrooms so even more students can attend the school. Experience is not ever required but those who know construction, brick work, plumbing, concrete workers, electricians, medical, first aid, nurses, farmers, fish hatchery workers, doctors, dentists, and other related fields are encouraged to participate. We do have qualified team leaders to help you learn how to do much of the needed work. Everyone will be of value to this team, even if you only wish to hold babies, make new friends, and teach a few classes! This trip is an incredible opportunity to build lifelong relationships with students and families and no experience is required!

Requirements:
The Mugomari and Kwirenyi schools were first started by a well-established, local church. We are still working through these churches to help establish the new high schools. There are longer short-term assignments available to teach at the school lasting from six weeks to three months in duration. Long-term assignments are available too for up to one year in length. Candidates must raise their own expense/support for this need. We provide pre-field training through a series of devotional material. Pre-field orientation materials are also provided. Debriefing usually takes place in a reasonably comfortable environment in the capitol city of Nairobi before the team returns home.

Young people under the age of 18 need to have parental or guardian approval or preferably, be accompanied by at least one parent. Prefield training is required for participation on any team and will be done by correspondence. Previous short term experience is helpful but just like construction experience, it is not required. English, though Ki-Swahili is a nice plus. NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! We have competent team leaders to teach everyone; no shortage of work here! Medical personnel and those familiar with agro/hydro/waste systems would be needed too.
