EVO is offering an externship in Pittsburgh, PA for a culinary - food management position during the 2017 - 2018 year. This can be a short term or long term. EVO is building a year round feeding ministry, while reaching into the senior population. While having access to a food truck, we are able to prepare and serve delicious, freshly prepared meals throughout the East End of Pittsburgh and offer health and nutrition classes to those attending. Earthen Vessels Outreach is a non-profit located on the East End of Pittsburgh near downtown, University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. The vision of EVO is to walk alongside children and families on a long term basis as they are guided into healthy functional mature adults. EVO¹s mission is to build social, racial and economic bridges to connect communities, organizations and people for the enhancement and transformation of all in the East End of Pittsburgh, PA to include Bloomfield, Garfield, Friendship, East Liberty, Homewood, Wilkensburg and Lawrenceville. EVO is hiring one to three people to assist in the manage their kitchen throughout the year as they build an extended feeding program and outreach to seniors. This is a USDA approved site that follows all food and health guidelines of Allegheny County, State of PA, and USDA codes. Throughout the summer, EVO partners with the SW PA Dept. of Food Service and transports breakfast, lunch, snacks and/or dinner to different low income camp sites throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Person applying must have character skills of management, organization, entrepreneurial, self-starter, high-energy, problem-solver, good communicator and completer-finisher. Job requires meal planning of cold breakfast and hot lunch according to USDA requirements, training or willing to be trained and certified in kitchen management and county health requirements, purchasing of food and supplies, managing kitchen staff, communicating and helping to organize - set up 5 - 10 food sites throughout the city with their directors. Organization of paperwork is a follow-up requirement.
