Hospice Volunteer
|
Description
Hospice extends an excellent opportunity to you. Volunteering provides a wonderful experience that is unlike anything else you can do.
Here at Lion Hospice, volunteers offer emotional support and practical assistance to patients and families during this most difficult time, usually in the patient's home or in a nursing facility. Lion Hospice volunteers are trained for the area in which they choose to serve. Offerings may include patient care, administrative or bereavement duties. Patient care volunteering may include music, art, pet therapy, reading, etc. Administrative volunteering includes someone who does not want direct patient care but may provide administrative assistance in the office setting. Bereavement volunteering is a person who wants to go through the bereavement process with the patient and family. Volunteers are an important link to the community as Lion Hospice ambassadors. Volunteerism is good for the heart. It increases your self-esteem and competence, while it lessens stress and depression. As volunteers, you are an integral part of a team that works toward offering comfort, dignity and often, simply, the feeling of not being alone.
