Group Tutor Volunteer

Description
The Group Tutor Volunteer assists with small group tutoring needs during tutoring hours. On any given night there are a small number of youth who are unable to be matched with a one-on-one tutor. The Group Tutor Volunteer will provide a positive and rewarding learning experience for these youth in a small group tutoring setting.

Requirements:
Preferred Experience:
1. 1 year experience working with youth or leading groups. Experience may include teaching or tutoring for an after school program, former camp counselor experience or involvement as a youth group leader.
2. Proven ability to work with youth in a respectful and positive manner, focusing on increasing self esteem and academic skills.
3. Cultural competence in working with low income youth and families from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
4. Academic competence in reading, writing and math.
5. Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
6. Positive role model skills and ability to motivate youth in their academic and personal goals.
