Description

The Graphic Designer internship is a full time position through AmeriCorps, which is responsible for supporting TechMission's need for quality visual communication in online and print media.  Duties may include: providing graphic design for TechMission's website using Photoshop, Flash and other software; providing graphic design for TechMission print media including flyers, brochures, posters and presentations using Adobe PhotoShop, In Design and other graphic design software; and improving TechMission's website design by coding CSS styles and HTML layout in collaboration with the web developer. A typical day for the Graphic Designer involves creating new logos and graphics for TechMission websites, online ad campaigns, mailings, or flyers; fixing display problems on TechMission's websites; designing new themes (layouts) for TechMission's sites; creating web-based templates for email newsletters; and supporting use of the CD duplicator. Requirements: * Applicants for this program must be at least 18 years old * must have a high school degree or equivalent (GED) * must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States * specific qualifications vary by position but generally applicants should have good people skills, ability to work with children, and have a desire to learn * familiarity with Microsoft Word and the Internet desired * applicants with experience working with Black and Latino communities or non-profit/community/faith-based organizations are strongly encouraged to apply * accepted applicants must follow all federal and AmeriCorps guidelines with respect to faith during official AmeriCorps hours

These positions will provide a basic living stipend for the year of about $11,000 ($949 per month) plus health insurance.

*Child care benefits are available, if eligible

* At the end of the year, the AmeriCorps member is eligible to receive either a taxable $5,350 Education Award to pay off past student loans or future schooling

*repayment of Federal student loans may be put on hold for the duration of the year that you are an AmeriCorps.

*AmeriCorps benefits do not affect eligibility to continue receiving government benefits based on need (food stamps, WIC, veterans benefits and HUD subsidized housing).

*Other benefits include 10 days of vacation time and 10 days of sick time (in addition to holidays)
