Jesus of Nazareth Compassion Ministries (JONCM), a Christian compassion ministry in the Denver inner-city, is looking for a creative and passionate Christian believer to adventure with us on a faith journey as our FUNDRAISER SPECIALIST.
JONCM is run underneath the leadership of the board for Iglesia Gracia & Vida. The mission statement is Evangelizing the Hurting and Loving Them into the Church. Currently, JONCM conducts an after-school program, the Mauricio Saravia Academy, which provides art and sports classes to kindergarten through 5th grade children 3 days per week. JONCM also has started a youth discipleship and entrepreneurial ministry called the Westwood Youth Leadership Center. Included in the vision is the expansion of academic, technology and business classes to youth. We are located in the 2nd poorest neighborhood of Denver and serve primarily a Hispanic population.
The Fundraiser Specialist works under the general supervision of the Executive Director. We seek a dedicated professional who can strengthen our existing donor relationships in the metro area, develop new relationships and lead our fundraising efforts. Our ideal candidate is a team player, creative, comfortable asking for money and responsible to set up and carry through fund raising events and donor appointments.
This is a commission-paid independent contractor position.
The Fundraiser Specialist will be responsible for organizing and managing activities related to the analysis, planning, implementation, control and evaluation of fund raising activities. The following list of principal responsibilities is meant to illustrate the types of tasks usually found in this position. However, actual performance of the job may not always involve all of the duties listed, and the job may require performance of other duties not found on this list.
Principal Responsibilities:
• To support Executive Director by leading a planning team that will create and accomplish a yearly fundraising plan with goals and strategies. Strategies may include but not be limited to: banquets, golf tournaments, internet sales, mission teams, speaking engagements, etc…).
• To cultivate partnerships within and without our current Church network by speaking at churches, meeting with leaders and presenting at Christian events.
• To forge new partnerships by meeting with business, community, religious & civic contacts.
• Ensure that all fundraising is consistent with the overall mission, philosophy and strategic plan of Jesus of Nazareth Compassion Ministries.
• Document all fundraising activities and provide monthly donor reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
• Write and design fundraising material such as donor letters, brochures, website, PR kits, etc.
• Limited grant writing possibly.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics Sought:
• Demonstrated ability to effectively function in a collaborative manner with staff, board, volunteers and committees, and create and maintain a harmonious work environment.
• Exceptional organizational planning and problem-solving skills.
• Proven recent success in fund raising, particularly in major donor solicitation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written) including public speaking.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop relationships with others including donors.
• Demonstrated ability to work on many complex projects simultaneously and to prioritize work.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate board, staff and volunteers in fundraising projects. Ability to train, supervise and motivate as needed.
• Knowledge of database management and donor data research.
• Some graphic & website design preferably.
• Passion and commitment to inner-city children, youth and families.
Preferred:
• Bilingual in Spanish/English
• Knowledge about philanthropic & Christian community in Denver & surrounding areas.
ACCOUNTABLE TO WHOM
Executive Director
SALARY: 50% commission of all net funds raised through donations, events, mission groups and internet sales. Commission paid for grants written to be negotiated on individual basis.
