Description
This volunteer position is a wonderful opportunity for the volunteer who is 55 years or better and looking to work with children. Foster grandparents work onsite at programs to serve as mentors, tutors and comforters for at risk children including those in Head Start, schools, youth corrections and day treatment programs. Foster Grandparents provde emotional support, help develop basic learning skills, tutor in reading and other subjects, assist with and teach self-care, act as a link to the community and another generation, and are postive role models. Volunteer locations are located throughout Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Jefferson, Lamimer and El Paso counties.
Requirements:
This volunteer position requires a minimum of 15/hrs a week, though volunteers may volunteer up to 40, and offers an hourly stipend. All volunteers must be on a fixed income of $21,660 or less for one person, though medical deductions can be made.The volunteer must have transportation to/from location and/or main VOA building. The volunteer must pass background check and have at least 2 references.
