Food Bank Volunteer

Description
ROP Food Bank Volunteers seek to make an eternal impact on marginalized individuals and families living along East Colfax by providing compassion, encouragement, respect and food at our weekly food bank.
Requirements:
Responsibilities:
1. Pray for ministry, staff, volunteers and those we are privileged to serve.
2. Warmly greet food bank clients, treating them with respect and honor.
3. Look for opportunities to be a listening ear to our clients and encourage their participation in other ROP ministries and Restoration Worship Center Sunday church services.
4. Pick up, load, deliver and unload food (pick up volunteers only).
5. Set up tables and chairs as needed.
6. Sort and bag food as directed by Food Bank Staff.
7. Notify Lead Volunteer and/or Food Bank Staff in advance of any required absences, concerns and or ideas.
8. Keep up-to-date on ministry by reading Newsletters and other mailings from ROP.
Time Commitment:
• A two to six-hour time slot each Thursday for one year extended by mutual consent
• Attend 2-hour Food Bank Volunteer Quarterly Team Meetings
Food Bank volunteers are strongly urged to participate in outreaches when possible (usually Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and a late summer back to school outreach).
Training:
• Attend a one-time 8-hour ROP Food Bank New Volunteer Training
• Attend a 2-hour quarterly Food Bank Volunteer Meeting
Special Qualifications:
• Compassionate and gracious
• Ability to stand to sort, bag and distribute food
• Physical strength for those picking up, loading and unloading food
