Description

This programme partners with 3 local churches in Nakuru ? the Anglican Church of Kenya (Crater Parish), Cornerstone Church and Cornerstone Lord?s Sanctuary Church. The Crater Parish of Nakuru?s Anglican Church has around 800 members, a number of which are local volunteers. Cornerstone Church has around 60 members and Cornerstone Lord?s Sanctuary Church has a membership of around 250.

This programme gives volunteers the opportunity to carry out ministry in association with the pastors and local volunteers from these churches. Your duties will vary but may include:

1. ministry in slums, the churches, schools and villages;
2. conducting bible studies and bible clubs;
3. taking part in music ministry;
4. delivering messages to church congregations; and
5. mentoring church workers.

Nakuru is located 160 kilometers north west of Nairobi (it takes 2 - 3 hours to travel to Nakuru from Nairobi by car or mini van). The fourth largest urban centre in Kenya,Unlike most population centres in Kenya, it is populated by people from the whole of Kenya and from many regions of the world. English is widely spoken (it is the official language of Kenya)
A host family member or local volunteer will accompany you to and from your work site until you are comfortable making that trip yourself.

The cost of volunteering goes directly to the programme you will be volunteering and your stay here in Kenya i.e.
1. Your host family to cover food (generally, breakfast and dinner each day), accommodation* and transport;
2. Covers airport pick up, accommodation* in Nairobi (if necessary), orientation.
The volunteer fee does not cover the cost of your flight, travel insurance, any required visas, passport costs, or entertainment and sight-seeing expenses
