ESL Teacher/ Assistant Teacher/Tutor

Description
We are looking for teachers, assistant teachers, and tutors for six different ESL class levels. Teachers use a relevant and interactive textbook and supplementary curriculum plus their own creativity to plan lessons for their classes. This is a great opportunity to gain teaching experience and meet a real and immediate need in our community. Classes are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30, and the spring session begins February 18 and ends June 1. A full day training will be held in February for all volunteers. A one semester commitment is required.
Lead Teacher Role
-Take the lead of a classroom of 10-15 adult ESOL learners
-Plan activities and lessons for each class evening
-Incorporate student interests, experiences, and goals into classroom activities
-Strive to build community in the classroom
-Foster a faith-based classroom environment
-Communicate with the Assistant Teacher(s) of the classroom about expectations, how teaching is going, etc. to make the experience the best one possible
-Communicate with the Program Coordinator
Requirements:
A desire to serve the Lord through teaching ESL. While teaching and cross cultural experience is a great contribution to the program, it is not a requirement.
