Description

Hogar Immigrant Services, a program of the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington, is seeking volunteers to coordinate English classes two evenings a week at All Saints Catholic church in Manassas on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. You'd work with another experienced Site Coordinator.

Our fun-loving team of over 300 volunteers teaches survival English to nearly 3,000 immigrants every year.

Requirements:
At beginning of Semester

Develop a plan to market and report on the ESL program within each site, i.e. events at a church,
newsletter at a community center and so forth.

Invite teachers to site orientation and student registration day.

Administer student registration. Deliver student payments and registration forms to Hogar Immigrant

Services program coordinator.

Communicate program procedures and schedules to teachers.

Deliver relevant materials to volunteers and students.

Assist teachers in administering tests and surveys.

Throughout the year

Open and close site classrooms/buildings.

Engage in supporting and encouraging teachers and students during class days. Report any
teacher/student needs or requests to program coordinator.

Administer a process for taking student attendance to volunteers.

Inform teachers of schedule changes, new information and in-service opportunities.

Substitute for teachers when necessary.

At End of Semester

Collect and send attendance records to Hogar Immigrant Services program coordinator.

Spanish skills are preferred but not required.
