Description

Schools canÂ’t do it alone. Teachers do their best, but the extra time and attention needed by each student to achieve grade level is not always possible. Every student should have the opportunity to improve and learn at their own pace. You can help.

Last year, a 2nd grade girl named Amina started the school year significantly behind grade level. Instructors were unsure if she could be promoted to the next grade Fortunately, Communities In Schools of Seattle (CISS) had tutors to match with Amina. The academic support that her reading buddy and math tutors provided weekly, along with school directed interventions, she improved immensely. Amina’s teachers and parents noticed great improvements in her academics and attitude toward school. Through a translator, her mother told CISS, “Communities In Schools has helped develop my child’s reading. She now likes school and is eager to be involved in school activities, especially after school tutoring programs.” In May of 2010, everyone who helped Amina was happy to learn that she will be joining her friends and classmates in the 3rd grade this school year.

If you would like to be a tutor and make a difference in a childÂ’s life, please contact us.
