Description
Volunteer in the Gateway to Nepal!
Surrounded by the beautiful Himalayan mountains, Kathmandu is a short distance from the hillside farms and temples that speckle the landscape. Many visitors are captivated by the culture and the charming, friendly Nepali people.
Nepal is a multi-cultural, multi-religious area, where Hindu temples,Budhist monasteries, Muslim mosques and Christian churches reside in harmony throughout the region.
While Nepal is a beautiful country, over 40% of the population is below the poverty level. This means that there are many needs and projects where you can make a positive impact on many lives here.
Nepal Leprosy Fellowship is a 15 year old non-profit Christian organization, that while focuses on the disabled and leprosy affected people, is also in partnership with government health facilities, hospitals, schools, orphanages, women?s shelters and much more!
Our organization and our staff are committed to making a difference here in Nepal and in the lives of our volunteers.
YOU have something special and unique to give to the world. Why not begin by using your gifts to change the lives of others?
To leave your comfort zone, your studies, your work behind. To live in a foreign country, to live among the poor and needy and give your all to uphold human dignity, THIS is what volunteering is all about!
It is only by moral virtue and compassion that we can change the lives of others. It might well be the greatest challenge of your life and the most unparalled life changing experience you will ever have!
"Do not think that love in order to be genuine has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired. Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies." ? Mother Teresa
This is where your journey will begin.
After a restful night?s sleep in a hotel that is located in the middle of the tourist hub of Thamel, you will have breakfast with some of our staff and attend a ?orientation? class. We will brief you on the customs, dress and local food, as well as give you a crash course on basic Nepali language. One on one interviews will be an important part of getting to know each other on your first day. Our travel agent will also brief you on your many options, (before or after your volunteer assignment) where you can go trekking, river rafting, or many other adventures available for you.
Taking a tour of the highlights of the city, stopping to have lunch along the way is all part of your first days adventure. By the end of the day, you will have made new friends, tasted Nepali food, and seen sights you will remember for the rest of your life.
