Description

Feducam's Centro Myra is a childcare center situated in the south of Quito, in a neighbourhood called the Mena Dos. This neighbourhood has a lot of families who are struggling to feed their families with the very low wages offered to labourers in Ecuador, sometimes less than $100 a month.
Adults who have small children therefore have no other choice but to work. In a neighbourhood desperate for childcare options, Centro Myra provides a safe and hopeful alternative.
This center provides free and subsidized childcare for more than 80 children. The center is crowded, but the atmosphere is nurturing, and provides parents with supervision options for their children.

Why does this organization need volunteers?

Centro Myra is a non profit organization that relies on the help of volunteers to aide in caring for children from low-to-no income neighborhoods in the South of Quito. The children at this placement are full of energy and benefit greatly from the compassionate, enthusiastic care given to them in all forms -- educational and/or recreational.

What tasks will you be required to fulfil?

Volunteers will help with the daily routine at the daycare center, create activities and projects for the children, give simple dancing or music lessons, and will help to further structure the centers programs.

Requirements:
Any previous experience with children or studies in the area of childcare are assets.
