Centro de Salud has several medical clinics throughout the city of Quito. They are striving to serve their community with the proper and necessary medical attention otherwise unavailable were these clinics not in these areas, or providing the medical care for the prices they perform them at (at times for free).

Why does this organization need volunteers?

Centro de Salud is an under-funded government run center that is always looking for help in the area of medical attention for the community. Knowledgeable people with experience in these fields can greatly aid the doctors and nurses. Volunteers are helpful in providing an extra hand to medical personal for better service to the communities that they are serving.

What tasks will you be required to fulfil?

Volunteers can assist doctors with regular check-ups, administering vaccinations, and other simple medical procedures based on the individual volunteer's educational qualifications, experience and abilities, as well as what programs are going on within the clinic at that time.
At times, Volunteers are able to be assigned to a Doctor and will help out and learn from that one-to-one experience.

Requirements:
Volunteers specializing in medicine or health are preferred, however those specializing in science are also welcome.

Upon arrival in country our staff will pick you up at the airport and return you to our Orientation Center for a safety briefing and general country orientation. For this program you are required to complete one - 4 weeks of language training and orientation which is included in the cost of the program. At the end of that week you will transfer to your placement to begin volunteering. Our staff are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you require help of any kind.
