Construction/Home Restoration Volunteer
|
Description
Construction Volunteers are essential for helping Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity achieve its mission to elminate poverty housing from the Twin Cities. Those who participate in the construction of a home help to provide the opportunity for a family in need to have a decent and affordable place to call home. Construction experience is useful, but a willingness to pitch in is the only requirement. For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 are not allowed on site. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have adult supervision. Youth ages 16 to 17 are required to have one adult (21 years of age or older) for up to four youth. Construction Volunteers must volunteer on site for an entire workday.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity serves the counties of Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, Washington, Dakota, Scott and Carver. Opportunities are available in the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, but there are often volunteer opportunities available in the suburbs, as well.
The workday runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Opportunities for involvement are always available, but more flexibility in scheduling exists from October-April. Construction training will occur on-site under the supervision of a Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity Site Supervisor or an AmeriCorps Construction Assistant.
