Description

The Development and Communications Intern reports to the Development & Program Associate and will work approximately 15-20 hours/week, between 8:45-5:00pm at the Northwest office. The Program and Development Intern will provide assistance with communications and outreach and development functions. Intern will assist with some combination of the following responsibilities depending on the skills and interests of the intern and the current needs of the organization:

? Create flyers and promotional materials
? Assist in media pitches for building awareness of organization and issues in which organization is involved
? Assist with creating displays for participation in regional events
? Draft thank you letters for group volunteers
? Perform data entry and help pull reports from Donor Perfect (fundraising software)
? Assist with planning special events
? Update and maintain SMGW social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, and research best industry practices
? Assist in the design, editing, and production of various communications publications including ads, web material, electronic marketing, brochures, e-newsletters, monthly updates to parish contacts, etc.
? Contribute and write articles for publications, as needed
? Develop educational and promotional materials for Help the Homeless Mini-walk program
? Provide general office support, including filing and responding to requests for information, answering phones, and working with participants at the front desk or in the computer lab.

? Experience with Publisher and skills in layout and design desirable but not required
? Past experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, HTML or website formatting, donor databases, foundation and/or grant writing a plus
? Passion for helping others
