Become a Mentor!
|
Description
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
Young people all across our nation have signed up and are in need of mentors. They need someone to listen to them....Teach them... Encourage them. Many are lonely and have doubts about themselves and their future. Many are considered "at-risk" and vulnerable to drug use, delinquency, truancy or teen pregnancy. These young people are in your community and are waiting.
Second Chances Mentoring provides 1-on-1 mentoring relationships to children who have been devastated by the incarceration of a parent or loved one. Through the support of mentors, children are inspired to heal, develop their sense of self-worth, improve their academic and social skills, and enhance their relationships with family and peers.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
While the need is great, the means are simple. Second Chances Mentoring is looking for caring adults who are willing to share of themselves with youth. The time commitment is minimal and flexible to your schedule and location. As a young person, was there ever a time when an adult reached out to you? What did that mean to you then...or even now? Or looking back, do you wish you would have had a mentor? You can become that person today for a child who needs you. Be a Mentor.
While Second Chances Mentoring is not a faith-based program, we invite Christian mentors to join us. This is in hopes that our children will not only receive an adult friend who can guide them on a worldly level, but will also be able to show them the love of and freedom in Jesus Christ.
