Americorps Vista: Research and Program Associate

Vineyard Community Offerings (VCO) is the initiative of the Greater Boston Vineyard Church to build diverse communities and develop youth into world leaders. We currently run over 15 programs and events. For more information, please visit our website at www.bostonvineyard.org/communityofferings.
For the past four years, VCO has focused on developing programs and relationships in the community and is entering into the next phase of its organizational development: sustainability. VCO is seeking a Research and Program Associate to provide research, tools, and systems to support the sustainability of the organization. This is an Americorps*VISTA position and will primarily focus on capacity-building for VCO. This position will run from July 11th, 2011 thru July 10th, 2012 (Dates are not flexible). A required training will be held in Philadelphia from July 11-14th (all your expenses will be covered).
Duties include:
Conduct a community needs assessment for teens in Cambridge and make programmatic recommendations.
Develop systems to track participants and volunteers across programs.
Revise and finalize the policies and procedures for working with youth.
Collaborate with staff to streamline data collection and metrics across programs.
Collaborate with staff on the implementation of database systems, youth policies and procedures, and program metrics.
Participate in a variety of VCO programs and events as needed to understand VCO’s strengths, weaknesses and the population we are currently working with.

Have an interest in working in a start-up environment and the non-profit sector.
Be able to communicate well with others.
Be flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
Strong research and writing skills.
Excel at analytical and strategic thinking.
Be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
Be proactive and able to work independently.
Value teamwork and able to work collaboratively with others.
Have preferably taken a statistics class.
Have experience working in a faith-based organization is preferred.
Be willing to help with VCO’s fundraising efforts.
Have an undergraduate degree
Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

VISTA members are volunteers who receive benefits directly from the Federal GovernmentÂ’s Corporation for National and Community Service. VISTA benefits include:
Choice of $5,500 education award or $1,500 post-service stipend
Health coverage
Living allowance of $1,163/month ($13,956 for the year)
Child care for eligible members
Pre- Service Orientation
Continuing Development Training
$550 relocation allowance if qualified
Student-loan forbearance and eligibility for interest accrual on qualified student loans
Eligibility for assistance such as food stamps
Additional benefit provided by VCO: Coverage of public transportation costs.
