Results included drastic alteration of low-education trends by achieving rates of 100% High School graduation and 90% college enrollment of students. Spiritual growth was also evident as 80% of students engaged in evangelism, community outreach, mission efforts, and leadership within our Church. • Building, Leading and Training Teams – Based Youth Ministry operations on the efforts of volunteer team – via training and coaching, team grew to 4 lead and 10 support members. Initiated East Texas Hispanic Youth Ministry Network, which provided ministry support, resources, and training venues to a group of 15 leaders from area churches. Currently provide training through conferences and workshops to students, volunteers, and youth ministers – involved with an average of 6 churches, organizations and educational institutions per year. • Generating Cooperation – Established partnerships to promote synergy with area churches, organizations, and ministries. This led to increasing outreach effectiveness, volunteer force numbers, and capitalization of resources. This was achieved by means of events and programs such as: evangelism program at State Fair reaching on average 1000 children annually, 2 after-school programs in local school and apartment complex, 30 Guiding-Light members as work force for community out-reach, regional youth events averaging 350 attendees, and 6 International mission trips. Professional Development PRIMERA IGLESIA BAUTISTA, Tyler, Texas – Youth Ministry Director 2002-2008 • Initiated and directed Nueva Generación Youth Ministry. Helped the Church, through education and gaining trust, to embrace the vision for a new structure of effective ministry and intentional outreach to young people in the community. This gave way to growing numbers of teens reached, and a new level of participation in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, education, and leadership development. • Exercised leadership by managing the Youth Ministry Team and ensuring we moved in conjunctive efforts to achieve ministry vision and mission. Four out of the six years of service were developed via long-distance leadership with weekly trips to the Church, emphasis on constant communication, and team training. • Four main areas in ministry were fruitfully developed: 1.- Established work-model based on a volunteer Ministry Team and focused on developing leaders. Provided training to the Ministry Team in the areas of: leadership, spiritual development, ministry organization, general operations, fund-raising, student counseling, lesson preparation, and teamwork. 2.- Identified needs and implemented family-based Youth Ministry approach which served parents by providing family-strengthening events and training in areas such as parenting skills and family progress. These efforts encouraged the necessary synergy and support to bridge the gap between parents and children. In turn, this approach promoted proactive parental involvement in Youth Ministry efforts. 3.- Obtained Church-wide support and active involvement in Youth Ministry. The Church worked together, invested in the students, and collaborated with efforts such as mentoring and fund raising. 4.- Closely discipled and mentored students in spiritual growth and character development, which led to ownership of their faith and life vision. Consequently, teens are leading the Church’s music ministry, teaching Bible studies, serving in community outreach, leading mission trip efforts, and encouraging one another to pursue careers and education. • As directing member, exercised leadership in the areas of: synthesizing facts and ideas, applying critical thinking, identifying needs, problem-solving, goal setting, and training and mobilizing volunteers. • Operational tasks included public relations, producing ministry structure documentation, calendar planning based on goals, event planning and coordination, and management of budget, resources and facilities. • As proactive education advocate, focused on providing students with one-on-one career mapping, education mentoring, general counseling, and coaching through college and scholarship application process. These and other efforts led to a drastic shift in the life vision of our students, thus altering their education levels and trends – all the students we work with attend college or technical school. • Created, planned and organized numerous programs and events at different scales. These included regional events that reached up to 350 attendees with no budget available for operations. Established fundraising solutions through events, individuals, and corporate sponsorships from local businesses. • Initiated East Texas Hispanic Youth Ministry Network to provide area churches with ministry support, resources, and training venues.
