Three opportunities for organizations in child services, social innovation and education.

AMERICAN LEGION CHILD WELFARE FOUNDATION
Purpose:
To support organizations that contribute to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of knowledge about new and innovative programs designed to benefit youth; or through the dissemination of knowledge already possessed by well-established organizations.
Geographic focus: The United States. Grant requests should have the potential of helping American children in a broad geographic area (more than one state).

SKOLL FOUNDATION:
SKOLL AWARDS FOR SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS
Purpose:
To advance systemic change to benefit communities around the world by investing in, connecting, and celebrating social entrepreneurs who have impacted the following areas: environmental sustainability, health, tolerance and human rights, institutional responsibility, economic and social equity, and peace and security. Within these issues, special consideration will be given to social entrepreneurs working in five critical sub-issue areas that threaten the survival of humanity: climate change, nuclear proliferation, global pandemics, conflict in the Middle East, and water scarcity.
Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations interested in applying must have a track record of at least three years.
Geographic focus: Global.
Deadline: August 12, 2009.

BANK OF AMERICA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION:
LOCAL GRANTMAKING
Purpose:
While local community priorities determine how funding is allocated, grants typically fall into four main categories: Community Development, Education, Health and Human Services, and Arts and Culture. Each of the company's markets, in partnership with local community leaders, sets specific target areas of interest within these major categories.
Geographic focus: the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom
