TechMission Corps Internship Positions
TechMission Corps' AmeriCorps program offers one-year full-time paid internships serving in urban ministries in Boston, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles.

TechMission interns help urban ministry organizations use technology to help address injustice and develop at-risk communities. The following positions are available:
K-8th Grade After School Program Coordinator (TMC)
Offered in: Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Denver
This AmeriCorps position will assist with a K-8th grade after school program based in a church or faith-based organization, serving through mentoring, providing basic technology activities, coordinating volunteers, and providing overall support.
A typical day of work for the After School Program Coordinator involves preparing lessons and activities for the participating youth, assisting them with their homework, leading lessons activities (especially with regard to technology), supervising their snack and outdoor play sessions, supervising volunteers, assisting with behavior management, keeping accurate records on program participants, soliciting and managing in-kind donations, and assisting the Site Director in the day-to-day administration of the program.
Teen Program Coordinator
Offered in: Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Denver
This AmeriCorps position will assist with a teen program based in a church or faith-based organization, serving through tutoring, mentoring, college prep, assisting with web-based academic enrichment elements, conducting community & parent outreach, assisting with community and school partnerships, planning college visits and workshops as directed, coordinating volunteers, and providing overall support.
The main responsibilities of the teen program coordinator depend heavily on the season. During recruitment season (mainly the early fall, late winter and late spring), much of the coordinator's time is spent visiting high schools and local Community Based Organizations to make presentations to students about our college-prep programs. However, when student recruitment is not the main priority, a typical day might include counseling a student on strategically managing the demands of high school life; responding to email or phone inquiries about financial aid or college application questions/concerns; developing the curriculum; and facilitating a workshop on anything from how to develop a vision for your life to how to fill out the Common Application.TMC)

Rescue Mission Worker

This City Vision College internship position will assist with the daily operations of a rescue mission. Duties may include assisting in the counseling of homeless individuals and those suffering from substance abuse, ensuring the safety of those inside the mission, assisting with food preparation and service, and assisting with the management and maintenance of the building facilities. A typical day of work for the Rescue Mission Worker involves working with the rescue mission staff to ensure that the mission's programs operate successfully and that those served by the mission remain safe, warm, and well-fed.

TechMission Headquarters Positions
Volunteer Coordinator (TMC)
Offered in: Boston at TechMission headquarters
This AmeriCorps position will assist with volunteer and work-study student recruitment and coordination for programs based in churches and faith-based organizations. Duties may include recruiting and placing volunteers and work-study students at sites, assisting with monitoring, data tracking, and providing overall support in volunteer management. Members may assist in other program areas as needed.
The volunteer coordinator acts as a liaison between the service site and volunteers. An important part of this position is to find volunteers and maintain positive relationships with them.
Additionally, the volunteer coordinator ensures users of TechMission's volunteer-matching website are able to navigate and utilize it for their organizations. At the same time, our volunteer coordinator team works on marketing strategies and projects to help organizations post free volunteering opportunities on the website if they need volunteers. They also gather useful resources like books, videos, and online articles on topics like volunteer management, family volunteerism, long-term volunteering abroad, and much more.
Web Developer Intern/Volunteer Coordinator

The Web Developer internship is a full time position, which may be offered either through AmeriCorps*VISTA or AmeriCorps, which is responsible for supporting the technology needs of TechMission. Applicants should view this position as an internship to gain experience in technology in a nonprofit/ministry setting working in one of the largest organizations doing technology and ministry worldwide. Duties may include updating and creating new webpages using Dreamweaver and/or Frontpage 2003, programming scripting for TechMission's websites in PHP and/or Java/Javascript, maintaining TechMission's websites, online databases and other online tools, assisting with any other technology or administrative needs.
A typical day of work for the Web Developer involves installing new Drupal modules and implementing new features on UrbanMinistry.org, troubleshooting problems with the site code or database, periodically creating the structure of new web sites or new sections of existing sites, optimizing pages for performance and SEO, and occasionally assisting with server administration.TMC)
Online Publications Editor Intern/Volunteer Coordinator (TMC)
Offered in: Boston at TechMission headquarters
The Online Publications Editor internship is a full time position through AmeriCorps which is responsible for creating and editing the content of TechMission's websites including UrbanMinistry.org, ChristianVolunteering.org, TechMission.org and Safe Families. This position will also help with online community development through our social networking site on UrbanMinistry.org.
A typical day of work for the Online Publications Editor involves moderating the content and comments that are posted on the site, looking for new videos and articles to post to the homepage (especially relating to special events and holidays), supporting and encouraging the volunteer bloggers as they write for the site, keeping the topic channel pages up to date, adding content to the wiki on urban ministry topics, and supporting users of the online community.
Graphic Designer Intern (*VISTA )

The Graphic Designer internship is a full time position through AmeriCorps*VISTA which is responsible for supporting TechMIssion's need for quality visual communication in online and print media. Duties may include: providing graphic design for TechMission's website using Photoshop, Flash and other software; providing graphic design for TechMission print media including flyers, brochures, posters and presentations using Adobe PhotoShop, In Design and other graphic design software; and improving TechMission's website design by coding CSS styles and HTML layout in collaboration with the web developer.
A typical day of work for the Graphic Designer involves creating new logos and graphics for TechMission websites, online ad campaigns, mailings, or flyers; fixing display problems on TechMission's websites; designing new themes (layouts) for TechMission's sites; creating web-based templates for email newsletters; and supporting use of the CD duplicator.
Grant Writer Intern (*VISTA )

The Grant Writer internship is a full time AmeriCorps*VISTA position which is responsible for writing grants, managing existing grants, and assisting with development work.
More specifically, the Grant Writer will do the following: writing grants to corporate foundations, private foundations and government funding sources; managing existing grants including tracking data, compiling evaluations and writing reports to existing funding sources; researching grant opportunities and developing lists of potential funding sources.
The Grant Writer is also responsible for supervising the development of a donor base of individuals, networking with other organizations and individuals to develop fund raising opportunities, assisting in partnering with urban churches and Christian non-profit organizations for grant proposals, assisting with any other fundraising or development activities as needed, assisting with any administrative activities as needed.
A typical day of work for the Grant Writer involves checking on the status of submitted grants, writing new grant applications based on the grants template, sending out letters of inquiry, collaborating with the Executive Director and the Development Team to revise grant proposals before their submission, and researching foundations to which TechMission may apply.
