Summary:

Since 1985, TCC has helped young people across the United Statesmake a difference.  TCC combines education plus action to create a change in one’s community.  Youth are educated on various topics such as drugs, bullying, conflicts between different people, dating violence, and property crime.  After learning about what you can do to prevent crime, TCC youth take action in their schools and communities participating in action projects (similar to service learning projects).

Why does FASTEN recommend this resource?

Fasten recommends TCC because it combines education and action to reduce youth victimization. By educating youth about crime, bringing them into contact with professionals who work within the community, and then drawing on their strengths and energy to plan and conduct community- and school-based action projects, TCC teaches young people the importance of becoming involved; it demonstrates how young people can be empowered to work toward reducing the crime and violence that take place in their schools and communities.
