Summary:

The Teen Challenge Web site describes the Teen Challenge program and the services they offer.  Although their name suggests a "teens-only" message, their programs, outreaches, and presentations are geared toward both teens and adults.  The Web site contains success stories of past participants, information on the harmful effects of drugs, a guide for parents, a directory of Teen Challenge centers, residential programs and locations, a prayer room and an online store.  Their unique Bible-based curriculum is used primarily in their residential treatment programs but churches are now successfully incorporating it into their Sunday school classes (FASTEN has included it in the Teen Discipleship subtopic on the website).  It is a Bible-based alternative to the standard 12-Step approach and geared towards new Christians.

Teen Challenge's Parent's Guide on Drug Abuse helps parents recognize the problem of drug abuse and to know how to respond.  It includes helpful topics such as common signs that a child is using drugs, how to "drug-proof" your child, and insights into whether what you are doing is helping or hurting your child.

Why does FASTEN recommend this resource?

Teen Challenge is  one of the oldest, largest, and most successful program of its kind in the world and has a distinctive Christian philosophy that many congregations and faith-based organizations can relate to.
