Read this and other exciting stories of volunteers just like you doing really wonderful things in their communities.

This past winter, Pastor Jim Galanaugh, YouthPartnersNet team member, laced up his sneakers and directed a basketball clinic for 695 Denver at-risk inner-city youth. Partnering with the Whiz Kids and 328 volunteers and more than 2,920 in-kind service hours, "Slam Dunk Saturday" was indeed a Slam Dunk!

Pamela with two of the children at the orphanage

Pamela was looking for a chance to care for children at an orphanage. Her search on ChristianVolunteering.org would eventually lead all the way from her home in Singapore to the Nepal Children Welfare Association (www.fmorphan.org).

Amanda at Iglesia Bautista Shalom (on far right)

Amanda was looking for an opportunity to practice her Spanish while using her gifts as a teacher. Through ChristianVolunteering.org, she found that Iglesia Bautista Shalom was looking for a teacher's aide for their ESL class.

Linda Lacy was once homeless with four children. After gaining stability, she was compelled to help other women face the challenges she once knew. She found City Vision College on the Internet and began to seek a qualified urban ministry that was willing to "allow her to intern"; that's how she came to Salem Union Gospel Mission.

Kristan, who lives in Toronto, connected with the "Look Good, Feel Better" Foundation through ChristianVolunteering.org. There she helped cancer patients regain their self-confidence, showing them ways to cope with the "cosmetic-related effects of cancer and cancer treatments."

Before Debbie Doland joined the Union Gospel Mission's staff, her mission experience was limited to occasional volunteering. Even though she was at an extraordinarily difficult point in her life—raising two boys who had recently lost their dad—her steadfast pursuit of Christ and commitment to stay at His side was an inspiration.

Several organizations in Africa have found ChristianVolunteering.org to be an invaluable recruitment tool. The Vinma Resource Center in Kenya found a "donor who will support [their] community project" through the efforts of two volunteers. Vincent, the director, says, "Thanks greatly for this innovation. May God bless you all." Lighthouse International Ministries, also in Kenya, has gotten in touch with several potential volunteers through ChristianVolunteering.org, and the director says, "I now know ChristianVolunteering.org is doing a great job."

Michelle Porter, of Regina RESCUE Mission in Saskatchewan, has this to say about City Vision College:

I guess you could say that my view of City Vision College is biased, having been the first person to ever receive a Bachelor in Rescue Ministries.  However, City Vision College has more than proved its effectiveness by playing a key part in the founding of Regina RESCUE Mission.  In less than four years, it has allowed our expansion mission to grow to a budget of nearly $400,000!

Abbé Joseph lives in central Africa. Since his ordination in 1994, he has volunteered with several poverty-fighting ministries. ChristianVolunteering.org helped connect him to the Neo-Catechumenal Way, a Catholic order of evangelists.
