God has called me into the apostlical anointing that I have planted 10 local churches in rural villages in uganda .

Making an Impact

At the end of every trip, we have groups fill out evaluations of their experience in the city. We ask them to tell us something they’ve learned or a commitment they’ve made as a result of their trip. Here are some of responses from participants at CSM Chicago:

Radical Love in the Neighborhood

Hard Lessons from the Streets of Toronto

I cried this week. For the first time since my hosting experience commenced, I unabashedly let water collect in my eyes as my voice cracked awkwardly, then as I tried to speak through the tears I just let go and cried. This happened during our Final Challenge, a beautiful Friday night of reflection, discussion, and praise for each other’s gifts. I did not cry out of desperation or sorrow, but out of overwhelming joy and pleasure in seeing the spiritual growth and love that transpired over the week. CSM Houston: Hurricane Ike Update

Hurricane Ike swept through Houston this past weekend, leaving a path of destruction and hope from an all-powerful, all-knowing God.
CSM has three full-time staffers in Houston, many partner ministry sites, and countless individuals we love very much. Greg Pennington (CSM Vice President) weathered the storm with his family and is now living at his church and helping to reach the surrounding community as it wakes up in shock at the damage. CSM Houston: Living out Acts

Here at CSM Houston, each summer takes on a personality all its own. I’m always excited to see how our staff and groups will interact with each other and the city to make their own unique impact. Although each year I anticipate this “new feel,” the summer of 2008 has seemed particularly special. Our six summer staff members have surprised me almost on a daily basis with stories of the incredible – nearly tangible – ways in which they are encountering God in the city.

"Social justice has become a buzz phrase in Christianity lately. Halting global injustice seems to be one of the foremost concerns of young Christians, and its emphasis is changing the face of the Church from the way it engages society to the way it engages politics. But is our emphasis on social justice detracting from other areas of the Gospel?"

I guess sometimes you really do have to be taken out of your comfort zone in order to realize the reality of seeing a bigger picture. Today I had a lot of time to reflect on the power of prayer. I am so glad to know that I can talk to God and trust Him with everything. I am glad that He is bigger than me and He is great in power and grace.
