Summary:

This manual includes two biblically-based workbooks (one for the mentor and one for the program participant) for use in adult/family mentoring programs. The workbooks are essentially studies of the Old Testament book of Nehemiah that the mentor and program participant work on together. The study topics range from “Who Am I and Why Was I Created?” to “Teamwork” to “Obtaining and Keeping Your Career.” The participant workbook also addresses practical issues such as how to fill out a job application.

This curriculum is not designed to meet the physical, educational, and/or occupational needs of a family on welfare. Rather, the workbook is designed to help restore and rebuild the mentored welfare recipient’s life from within. The lessons introduce fundamental Christian principles and present the gospel.

Why does FASTEN recommend this resource?

This biblically-based study is a helpful resource for an adult/family mentoring program. The timeless values promoted through this study will positively impact the participant's self-esteem and put the challenges of obtaining and retaining a career in perspective.
