Mission Statement

To empower the Church to serve the most vulnerable

Description

World Relief Minnesota is an affiliate ministry of GMAE, Greater Minnesota Association of Evangelicals, and mobilizes churches to minister to refugee and immigrant families in Minneapolis-St. Paul. World Relief provides a variety of direct services to refugee families and offers training and volunteer opportunities for churches and individuals. World Relief Minnesota, in partnership with local churches, has been working since 1988 to welcome the persecuted people of the world who have come to Minnesota to begin a new life of freedom and safety with their families.

World Relief believes that local church congregations offer the best context for working with the poor in overcoming their lack of opportunity and offering hope and life. We believe showing suffering people that Christians care and that the Church wants to make a lasting impact on their lives is a powerful expression of our faith and love for God. World Relief empowers and equips churches to serve refugee communities in the Twin Cities. Through practical help to the poor and extending love and care through relationships, the life-changing power of Jesus Christ is shared with people from all over the world who have come to Minnesota. From this context of help through the Church community, people experience transformation in their lives, in their families, and in the broader society.
