Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is an expanding Evangelical Christian ministry serving the Greater Seattle community. World Relief provides for the physical and spiritual needs of refugees and immigrants, and seeks to be the hands, feet and face of Christ to them.

MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission is to ease the burdens of the homeless and disadvantaged while they seek education for themselves and their children so they may achieve economic independence and to insure children are raised in a healthy, safe, secure, nurturing environment.

Our Name: R.O.A.R., is an acronym.
R is for Referrals that we keep current; we connect those in need to the appropriate resources to meet those needs.
O is for the Opportunities that are provided for training and experience in the work force.
A is for Advocacy that is arranged by our case managers in collaboration with other service agencies to settle differences.
R is for Resources that we make available, such as printed material, access to a computer, telephone, and the Internet.

Big Brothers Big Sisters serving King, Pierce & Jefferson Counties partners with actively involved community members to match caring adults with children, both of whom benefit from our one-to-one mentoring programs.

Volunteers of America Western Washington is a Christian human service organization dedicated to reaching, serving and empowering diverse individuals, families and communities. Mentoring Children of Promise is a program dedicated to matching children of incarcerated parents with caring adults for a long-term caring relationship.

New Horizons Ministries is a multi-cultural organization whose mission is to be in relationship with homeless and street-involved young people, serving and loving in the way of Jesus, equipping them to leave street life.

Situated in Seattle's Rainier Valley, Seattle Urban Academy is a safe, alternative, Christian, educational community where at-risk high school students develop academic, social, and spiritual maturity to graduate to higher education and sustained employment.

At SUA we have a vision: our alumni will be active contributors to their community, living out the hope and love that comes from transformed lives.

Our approach is to provide an affirming environment, low student-to-staff ratios and individualized curriculum. SUA?s committed educators serve as mentors, advocates and life coaches. Over time, as Principal Sharon Okamoto notes, ?Relationships of trust grow, students discover they are loved, and they learn the value of honesty and accountability.? Then, by working closely with youth agencies, businesses, law enforcement, civic groups and public and private officials, we?re able to provide the highest possible levels of opportunity to our students.

Having experienced academic failure in previous schools, students need a high level of individual attention, guidance and accountability. We concentrate that help in four areas for each student:

Build - involve appropriate social services
Learn - re-focus on academic achievement
Serve - graduate with clearly outlined goals
