Mission Statement

We seek to supply the community with low-cost home improvement materials. Our customers have told us repeatedly, that our store is the only place that many in the community can afford to buy the materials necessary to repair and enhance their home.

We seek to keep re-useable building materials from going to the landfill. The environmental aspect of our business has been something that our volunteers and community have really rallied behind. In 2001, we earned a Keep Columbus Beautiful award in the Recycle and Rethink category.

Finally, we seek to raise funds for administrative costs for Habitat for Humanity-Greater Columbus to continue its mission of building affordable houses, empowering families, and developing communities

Description

Greater Columbus Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) was established in 1987 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and since then has built over 182 houses throughout Greater Columbus and Franklin County. Our mission is to work in partnership with God and people to build affordable homes, empower families, and develop communities. We work together with people of all faiths to build safe, decent, affordable homes in partnership with families who lack adequate shelter.

HFHGC receives hundreds of inquiries each year from families hoping for a chance to experience the American dream of homeownership. Despite the critical need for affordable housing for low-income families, we are one of the only housing agencies in Franklin County targeting families who earn 25-50% of median income. All of our partner families are first-time homebuyers who earn 25-50% of the median income for Franklin County and currently live in substandard housing. Working in partnership with God and people to build affordable homes, empower families and develop communities.
