CHAMEG is dedicated to the idea and actual search for sustainable development initiatives, designed and managed by its beneficiaries according to their collective spirit and culture directed towards a freely chosen future and in a partnership with other actors.

Description

CHAMEG (Changing Mentalities and Empowering Groups) is
a non governmental organization initiated in 1994 by ten women`s groups with the aim of empowering women socio-economically; thus raising their self-esteem.

Our activities cover the South West Region of Cameroon with offices in Buea, Limbe and Mamfe.

Main Goal:
To enhance the socio-economic, cultural and political situation of the underprivileged, especially women.

Objectives:
To promote sustainable health practices amongst rural and urban poor Clients:
Target Beneficiaries- Women, Youths
Orphans, Street children
Indigenous Groups & Communities

OUR ACTIVITIES :/ PROGRAMS INCLUDE -

CREDIT AGAINST POVERTY:
We access credit to the underprivileged minority groups (Women) to enable them engage in income generating activities for poverty alleviation
-We also have the OPERATION 100 YOUTHS FOR A USEFUL HOLIDAY.
Under this program we access loan packages of 100,000 FRS each to Youths every summer holiday to enable them indulge in gainful trades to earn incomes and occupy them selves.

HEALTH EDUCATION: We educate rural and urban poor women on various health issues. we also provide Home Based Care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS and their Orphans

WE PROVIDE SKILLS TRAINING: To women and the girl children to enable them indulge in income generating activities to alleviate their living conditions and extend literacy classes to the rural folks.

HUMAN RIGHTS: We advocates and lobby against inhuman practices and laws that discriminate against women and especially the girl child. (E.g. female genital mutilation, widowhood, non ownership of landed property by women etc.) And organize film acting of these vices

HEALTH EDUCATION: We are running activities on
-Re productive health
-HIV/AIDS education and Prevention
-Malaria prevention and supply of treated mosquito nets
-Home based care to orphans, vulnerable children and people living with hiv/aids
